Maria Sharapova World No. 2 ranked & Serena Williams

The 13-time single Grand Slam champion Serena Williams and Russian star Maria Sharapova hopes to play again in a Grand Slam tournament final next season at Australian Open.

The American top seed Serena and World No. 2 ranked Maria Sharapova are one of the great rivals in the WTA history, where both the players clashed for nine occasions. Serena and Sharapova are pulled out of China Open tournament this month, as the players suffering from injuries’. Serena, who has lost at 2011 US Open final to Australian Samantha Stosur in consecutive sets with a 6–2 and 6–3.

The 24-year-old Maria Sharapova, who suffered




foot injury at Toray Pan Pacific Open quarterfinal match against 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic. Sharapova has withdrawn from the match, where she is working hard to return back to court soon. The Russian beauty will play her next tournament at Istanbul, as she is looking hot favorite to clinch the third WTA title.

Serena, who has won two WTA title at 2011 western & southern open and Roger Cup in Toronto this year, after return back from foot injures. The American star will not play any tournaments in this season, as she withdrawn from all the tournaments. Serena hopes to return back to Australian Open in January, where she will be hot favorite to clinch the title for sixth occasion.

The 30-year-old Serena and Sharapova hopes to clash once again in the Grand Slam final at Australian Open in 2012, where American star leads with a 7-2 win loss head-to-head record. Sharapova said that Serena is one of the toughest opponents to play in her career.
